Teachers' Forum

We have created a Teachers Forum where any teacher can join. Click here to go directly to the Forum (http://globalconnections.wetpaint.com).

The Teachers' Forum is set up as a wiki-site, which allows anyone who has created an account to edit the site, add text, resources, links, and most importantly, start or participate in a discussion. Try it out, it is really easy!

Click on the READ MORE button if you need some additional information about the wiki site.

What is a wiki-site?

A wiki site is a type of website that allows the visitors to add, remove, and sometimes edit the available content. Wiki sites are used in different contexts. The most famous wiki probably is wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org) – an online encyclopedia that anyone can add to or change the content.

Why did we choose a wiki for our teachers’ forum?

A wiki site is very easy to use. Also it can easily be expanded by any member of the site. Anyone can be invited as a member and will then be able to add text, photos, links, and other content to the wiki site. It is very easy and works just like in a regular ‘word’ document.
The wiki is a convenient website for teachers to start a discussion in the discussion forum, to add new links, to upload resources, and to add new pages.

How does the ‘Global Connections’ – Wiki work?

Join the wiki site!
If you want to participate in the discussions or if you want to upload material, resources, share your thoughts and experiences in teaching Development Education, you just need to register. There is a button on the top-right of the page: ‘Join This Site’. Click on that button and register. From then on, you can use your personal Log-In to connect to the site.

Join the Discussion Forum
On the top-let there is a link to the Discussion Forum. You either join an existing Discussion by clicking on it, or you can start a new one (“start a New Thread’).
Anyone can then participate in the discussion.

Add Resources
On the left hand side there is a menu. Go to ‘Resources’, it will give you a sub-menu for:

  • Links to Online Resources
  • Audio and Video Resources
  • Material for Download

You can click on either of them. If you want to add a link to a website that you find very useful, go to the ‘Links...’ section. You can now click on the EasyEdit button on the top-left and add your link. You can also add a sentence about that website, why you think it is useful, or what you can find on there. This will help other teachers who are looking for material.
If you want to upload a document, you go the ‘Material for Download’ section, and then click on the ‘More tools’ button on the top menu. If you click on ‘Add attachment’ you can upload an attachment just as you do when sending emails.
